Finally, the real world fuel economy is worse than the Pilot despite the RDX being smaller. Overall if you’re used to sitting in the Pilot, the RDX feels very cramped. The wipers need to be placed into maintenance mode to be able to lift them up otherwise they’re tucked slightly under the hood. Also, the wipers can’t just lift up like the Pilot for clearing snow and/or removing ice. The cons are teething issues (known issues such as trunk hatch making a popping noise when opening), less cargo room, worse backup camera compared to the Pilot, and the touchpad based infotainment system. Overall the car isn’t very large and it’s easier to park into tight spaces compared to the Pilot. The pros are the responsiveness, driving dynamics, SH-AWD, sound system, and materials used. Front visibility and side mirrors are good but the rear window is somewhat small and the reverse camera is not as good as the Pilot. Although iVTM4 on the Pilot is similar, you can actually feel SH-AWD working but not so much for iVTM4. The RDX doesn’t feel like a boat (like the Pilot) and the SH-AWD is actually pretty good. Overall the car feels much more responsive and I don’t need to switch it into Sport mode for everyday driving. The Acura RDX’s ride is fairly firm, at least for the ASPEC model, and the steering feels much better and precise. I noticed that when brand new as well but didn’t bother to do an alignment. Occasionally I get wind noise coming in near the top of the driver side door / roof area and I feel the car slightly pulls right / the steering wheel isn’t completely centered when driving straight. I have the model with captains chairs and sometimes I wish I had the middle bench so I don’t have to flip up the rear seats sacrificing a lot of cargo room just to carry 1 extra person. The cons are that it’s very wide and somewhat difficult to park in small parking lots think condo parking. The backup camera is also better than the RDX. Visibility is also very good with large windows and mirrors. It can carry 7 passengers if required and surprisingly has better real world fuel economy than the RDX. The pros are that it’s much larger than the RDX so everyone feels more comfortable in it and the cargo room is great. The Pilot also feels very heavy and unresponsive unless you leave it in Sport mode which somewhat helps. If the Honda Passport is anything like the Pilot, the ride is very soft and the steering is imprecise and loose. Since the Passport is based on the Pilot I thought I’d share my 2 cents. Not the exact comparison you’re looking for but I have a 2018 Honda Pilot Touring and a 2020 Acura RDX ASPEC.
